When are you open?
The Fishery is open daily from 8.00am throughout the year. We sometimes have to close individual lakes for matches or maintenance. This happens mainly in the winter months. Check on the Fishery facebook page for up to date info on lake closures. For cafe opening times please check their facebook page or call Dorina 07975 791005.
How much it will cost to come fishing?
Prices vary on each lake, please check the information for the lake that you are coming to fish. Pleasure Lake; Old Carp Lake; Family Lake; Trout Lake; Fly Lake; Carp Lake.
Are we able to hire tackle?
We hire tackle for all of the lakes apart from the Carp Lake. It’s £4.50 to hire a rod (already set up) and the price includes a landing net and mat.
We only have a limited number of fly rods, so please phone us the morning you are coming and we can put them to one side for you. The ticket price for the Family Lake includes rod hire. Please note the price for the rod hire includes one repair/untangling, further repairs/tangles will be charged at £4.50 for a fresh rod. The rods for the coarse lakes include a repair kit.
Could you tell me more about the accommodation?
Our comfortable, modern, country cottage is set around 400yds from the lakes. The cottage sleeps up to 4 with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. Up to 2 dogs are welcome. Guests staying at Glas y Dorlan cottage enjoy unlimited coarse and catch and release fly fishing during their stay (please note the new Carp Lake is not included in this offer).

Do we have to take the fish home?
On the Trout Lake all fish caught must be taken home and no fish to be returned to the water. Once you have caught your bag you can either come back to the shop for a new ticket or stop fishing. On the Fly Lake your ticket will note how many fish you are permitted to keep.
On all the coarse lakes – Pleasure Lake, Old Lake, Family Lake and the Carp Lake all fish MUST be returned to the water.
Are you a dog friendly venue?
You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog with you. They will need to be kept on a lead at all times and we ask that you please pick up after them and discourage any would be swimmers! Please note, we only allow dogs with anglers, we don’t allow any public dog walking around the lakes as it disturbs the anglers.
We’ve never fished before, can you help?
We have a couple of options suitable for beginners, the Trout Lake if you want to take the fish home to eat, and the Family Lake if you want to return the fish to the water. Our staff will give you a demonstration and help you get started and they will be on hand to help during your visit but aren’t able to offer tuition as such.
Do you offer tuition?
If you’d like to develop your fishing skills a bit further ask us in the shop about local coaches who can meet you at the lakes for some tuition. Occasionally during school holidays we offer fishing tuition sessions, keep an eye on our facebook page for details of any upcoming sessions and events.
What are the Fishery rules?
The rules vary for each lake, please read the rules before your visit so that you are aware of the correct equipment to bring. Pleasure Lake; Old Carp Lake; Trout Lake; Fly Lake; Carp Lake.
Do I need a Fishing Licence to fish at Eisteddfa Fishery?
Children under 13 do not need a licence. A junior licence is needed for children aged between 13 and 16. Junior licences are free. Everyone aged 16+ needs a licence. Your licence can be purchased online and are available for the day, 8 day or 12 months.
Do you allow overnight fishing?
We occasionally allow overnight fishing on the Pleasure Lake and Old Lake, more details here.
On the Carp Lake the minimum ticket is 24 hours.
